awwwww I can't stop taking pictures!!
Look at this little guy!

Here is the whole group this morning

Isn't this just the most perfect puppy you have ever seen? Here's the plan.. I want to keep ALL of them!!! hahahahahha

I swear they doubled in size while they slept today!
The puppies are doing great, they actually grow while I am gone to work, or sleeping and when I see them some hours later, they are bigger and fatter! I think the small size was because of them being born a little early, as they are rapidly catching up to what I think they "should" be. So far, I really like the girl, nice blocky head.. the other's have nice heads too, but it is hard to tell when they are tiny, so I guess maybe I am just being partial as the female is what I am used to seeing in my litters. But the boys are catching up, I bet next week they will all be the same and correct size. One of them ate too much yesterday and blew milk out through it's nose all over the others, that was gross. Daisy has been with them every moment. I have to really make her go out to the potty, she holds it so long, then rushes out for just a minute to "go" and then right back in to them. This morning while the other dogs are outside I am trying to get her to walk around the house, streatch her muscles. I gave her a nice hair brushing and she seemed to enjoy that, but she sure is ready to get back to the babies, she is just humoring me by walking around. I keep her in the doggie bedroom with the door shut, that room opens to the laundry room and I keep the baby gate up so the other dogs can't get in there either. The doggie bed room is really well insulated so it is close to sound proof, and I think that gives momma's a great sence of security with their pups that they can't see or hear other dogs for the first month or so. That way the mom relaxes and doesn't feel the need to protect or hide them, she has a quiet den of her own. It does however mean I have to move all the dogs out of that dog room/laundry room combo and they are alll over the living room and other bedrooms.. lounging on all the beds and furniture and generally underfoot!!
Ok, Ok, Ok... ONE .little tidbit... Baby #1... IT'S A BOY!!

Ohhh ok ... another little hint... Baby #2... IT'S A BOY!!

ahhhh you twisted my arm.. Baby #3 IT'S ANOTHER BOY!!

last.. but not least... Baby #4.. a GIRL!!

thththththththh THAT'S ALLL FOLKS!!
AWW.. group hug..

Yup.. R got it.. the first 3 days are very critical for neo-natal pups and these little ones were born a couple days early, but we didn't loose anyone and so far so good!! They are gaining weight and are very strong and feisty, Daisy is being a good mom. If you thought the other litters looked like little hamsters, tho these ones are little MICE.. All were born between 3 and 4 ounces each, if you remember the spring Diana's litter were all 9 ounce or more, so these little guys (oooppsss did I say GUYS??) are 1/3 the size of the pups in the last litter. If all stays good today and tomarrow, then I will annouce our numbers, sex and get up the pictures.
Yawnnnnnn..... gosh I am tired. - Anyone wonder WHY I am so tired.. give you a hint, didn't get any sleep... anyone wonder WHY I didn't get any sleep....??? It's a secret... weee tiny little secret.. well actually there is more than one...
The decision has been made for Devon's registered name..
he is...
Vista Dei Legends of the Moor "Devon"
pictured here at 19 weeks old

DUSTY SEZ - eeehhhh hmmmm eeeehhhh hhhhhhmmmmm as the senior member of the Vista Dei Sheltie pack, I do call this emergency meeting to order!!! All present?
GROUP - here, here, here... all present!
DUSTY - an emergency situation has come up that will affect the lives of us one and all, discussion is required, and a solution must be reached. As you all know, Miz Crystal has taken the day off and has been cleaning while locking us all out in the yard to "play". Under this guise she has undertaken a most devious plan! She washed and sorted all of our toys, chewies and bones, throwing out some of the most beloved, tho albeit - well chewed items! The remaining items she stacked in our toy basket, but alas, it overflows! Please see the following picture I would like to enter into physical evidence:

DUSTY CONTINUES - I have overheard Miz Crystal say that perhaps some of these toys should be donated to the starving dogs in China who have never seen a toy!
DEW-OH SEZ- Excuse me can I say something?
DUSTY - no, not at this time, new business from the floor is not in order at this time.
DIANA SEZ - Oh no!! I think Miz Crystal should send FOOD to the starving dogs in China, not our TOYS!!
DUSTY - I am very concerned that perhaps Miz Crystal will put some of our toys in the black bags that she takes out on Wednesdays. We must come up with a plan to keep this from happening.
DARBY - well you know the smelly truck comes by in the night and eats those black bags, grinds them right up! I have earned some of those toys at SHOWS, I would not like them eaten by the smelly truck!
DEW-OH - can I say something now?
DUSTY - does it pertain to the toy crisis?
DEW -OH - noooooo
DUSTY - then we will discuss it later.
DAISY SEZ - Well I could use some of the soft toys to decorate my nursery, for my new babies I am about to welp.
MYSTY SEZ - I vote to let Miz Crystal throw them all out, and at Christmas time just give us boxes and boxes of eatable treats. I don't play with toys anyway, and I hate my diet, so trading in toys for boxes of treats sounds good to ME!
DEVON SEZ - what is Christmas?? Treats?? Toys?? When is Christmas??
RICKI SEZ - look, I will sneak these out one at a time and hide some in the back of my crate. Miz Crystal might not see them there! If we all do that, plus hid the hard bones in the couch cushions, and roll all the balls under the tables into the dusties corners, it will make it look like we don't have quite so many toys!
GROUP - Great Idea Ricki... [each run forward to grab some toys and scatter them around the house]
DEW-OH - Wait, wait.. before you ajourn this meeting I have something to SAY!!
DUSTY - ok, we will take new business from the membership... proceed..
DEW-OH - we have even a bigger crisis than the toys! I was just in the crate room sniffing around and ALL our bedding smells like those perfumy dryer sheets AGAIN!!!!
GROUP - OHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOO when does Miz Crystal go back to work???? OOOOOhhhhh noooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's Fall clean up day at Vista Dei, I took today off in an effort to get Devon delivered to his new home, but again, it just doesn't seem to be fated for him to leave here - so here he stays! My friend said he will be a Champion and influencial sire and I will look back at trying to place him and be so glad it didn't work out! Personally, I think he is enjoying his Therapy dog work too much to do much else at the moment. He went out to visit with my Aunt last evening. She is in a different rehab now and in a wheel chair with a front tray type affair that makes it impossible for the dogs to sit on her lap for a ride like they used to at the other place. But Devon is still small enough that he can lay on the tray thing and just snuggle up with his head in the crook of her neck and then he heaves a big sigh and falls asleep. When other people want to see him in the rehab he gives them ever so gentle licks on the fingers. He really changes personality from a lively pup around the house to a quiet gentle understanding soul when he goes to the nursing home, he tolerates some really odd type petting, grabbing of his nose etc and just stares into peoples eyes with a wisdom of a thousand years.
Sooooo now he needs a name. I have held off registering him, to allow a new owner to name and register him, but I guess I am his new owner. I have a name in mind but have to think about it just a little more.
So, anyway, it is fall clean up day since I have a weird day off and puppies due NEXT WEEK.. yes.. I said NEXT WEEK!!! Oh my!! I am downgrading my estimate to 3 puppies instead of 4, Daisy is round, but not "exploding" so we will see. I like to get the carpets scrubed in the bed room where she will welp, washing up the bedding on the bed back there since I don't sleep on that bed unless there is a litter, dusting, might wash the curtains and such too and set up the welping pen. Also have to set up the other dogs crates out of that room into the living room as I want her to have her privacy and not be nervous that the other dogs are looking at her babies.
Lots of trimming and raking to do outside too so I better shut up and get off the computer, finish my coffee and get to work.
Ok, I had a nap, well I had a whole nights sleep infact and am ready to tell you about my weekend. I think it was one of the most enjoyable weekends of my adult life, and I thank everyone who came together to make it that way! THANKS GUYS!! Where do I start? This will be a long one, but here is a picture that was taken of all of us (except Dave who was working in a ring when the picture was taken)

Dogs left to right
Aslan, Sampson, Drifter, Cricket, Decker, Darby, Genni, Kiwi (the little one
you almost miss) and Regis
People left to right
Alena, Sue, Mary, Denise, Rose, Crystal (that's ME!), Shawn, Christy, baby
Abby, Tim
this picture has been lowered in quality to fit on the internet, but the Beaver County Kennel Club President, Phil Thomas was generous enough to take 5 shots on a very high quality camera on the highest settings, the files are too big to email, so I probably won't get the files for a couple weeks, but they should be of a quality we can get some real pictures made in 8x10's I think. This picture was taken on Denise's camera and I think Ray has some shots too, if they turned out, please email them to me so we can pick around at the best shots.
I was so happy to see Rose and Ray and Cricket visit us from Indiana, just delighted that so many of our wonderful dogs and their owners were there and got to meet each other too! It was nice to meet one of our blog readers Mary Lou who came with her neighbor to see the show, was great to see Aslan and Sampson and their owners Alena and Mary, and mom Sue and whole family was there including their new little sheltie Pippi, it was just so nice to visit with everyone.
Now to the runs.. where do I even start? With Regis..
Watching Tim and Regis running together is like watching a ballet or pairs at ice skating now. They just flow through the course smooth and moving together like one unit. Fast and accurate, it is a thing of beauty to watch them. I notice they are getting a bit of a following when they come off the course now it is to a huge round of audience applause and well they should be applauded!! Here are this weekends placement and times for Regis' runs (thanks Christy for her note below)
And Drifter.. Drifter really had a run of a life-time this weekend. It was the standard course and Drifter came off the start line like a bullet. Dave was running as fast as he could and Drifter just poured it on. A litteral hush came over the crowd as people stopped chatting with each other to watch.. all you could hear were quiet ohhhhsss and aaahhhhsss... he hit the weave poles as fast as any dog you will ever see on TV, unfortunately he missed the down contact of the A frame by a fraction as he went leaping off, and that kept it from being a qualifying score, but tho I admit I might be a little predjudice I think I can honestly say I have never seen a faster run with so much heart and soul put in by both dog and handler. His final time was a 38.28 second run in an open standard course with a 72 second Standard Course Time (standard course time is the time allowed/expected to run the course as it was laid out)
Beyond my expectations guys!! Way to go... Thank you all so much for sharing your special moments with me, I am SO PROUD OF ALL OF YOU!!
Too tired to type, but Darby did much better today and we got through the Open course. We didn't qualify, but that was mainly cause I got a little lost on the more complicated turns and twists and flapped around seeking my way rather than directing him, so he took a wrong jump and back jumped a couple others. He did the weaves really well tho, and then on the Standard course that was still Novice he did qualify, it was not a perfect run, but he didn't jump off any obsticles and we did it with a second place ribbon so all was good and he got some Chicken.
It was such a great day, 9 of our dogs were there, Genni got a title, Regis got 2 double-Qs this weekend and Drifter didn't qualify, but ran a run of a life-time, so fast and accurate, I do not believe how fast he went, and only just barely missed a contact. I will have more on the times and titles and hopefully some pictures of the whole group, was so nice to see Rose and Ray and Cricket again, and I was so please that Sampson and Aslan's whole family made a suprise appearance.. just a matter of time till their agility titles start filling our blog!! Kiwi snuck in, and is shaping up to be a little pistol.. was a really really great day. THANKS GUYS FOR MAKING IT ALL COME TOGETHER!!
aaaakkkkkkk snatching my hair out in great gobs.. Well Darby bailed off the dog walk and the teeter AGAIN... I do not know why he is doing this in shows and not in class...arrrrrggggggkkkkkkkkk.... on a more positive note, he did qualify in Novice Perfered Jumpers With Weaves for his NAJP title today, and took a second placement weeee..
Regis also did QUITE well, but I will wait for Christi and Tim's final scores to post his results (yup included a blue ribbon for sure..)
Look forward to seeing everyone tomarrow.. I think it will be fun.. Darby and I have to move up to the Open class, and we are not ready for those weave, but hey gotta do it sometime! We will have another try at that dog walk and teeter tomarrow. Got him a nice new slip on leash so I don't have to be fumbling around with the snap at the end of the run..
Need a nap
The agility shows this weekend are at the Robert Morris Island sports arena on Nevel Island. Here is a link to the sports complex web site for directions (there is nothing on their site about dog agility, the club rented the site) Runs start about 8 am each morning, I believe there will be about 600 dogs running each day. The majority of our dogs will only be there on Sunday. whish us all luck and lots of blue ribbons! http://www.rmuislandsports.org
I was so pleased with Darby's runs in agility class last night. He stayed in the 12 weaves several times and when he did pop out it was well after the 9 that he will probably face this weekend. He did several runs of the dog walk and teeter with no hesitation and actually broke a stay in his excitement to take the A frame!! That is really good, back to the way he used to be, I do not know what started his bailing and hesitation on those obsticles, but I am glad to see him having fun doing them again. Perhaps taking the month off training re-newed his interest in doing the runs.
This weekend are agility shows, and we haven't practice for so long!! Trying to get out to class tonight so Darby actually remembers what the obsticles are. This is the first show we are going to with the increased number of weave poles, but he is doing better with the weaves, so I am not too worried about that (famous last words) actually I plan to just go and have fun, as we haven't practiced so I don't have "goals' or expectations.. just go, run, have fun, hope the car makes it down and back 2 days in a row.
Hope to see Rose and Cricket there on Sunday!! Look for us all, Shawn and Jenny will be there on Sunday, Dave and Drifter (he will probably take Decker along for fun, not to run) I think Tim and Christy will be there with Regis and maybe Kiwi, so we are all looking forward to a nice day, and meeting up with Cricket.
Daisy REALLY wanted an extra breakfast this morning, she was hungry, hungry, hungry!! I am going to guess 4 puppies.. we need 3 girls and one boy to fill our current waiting list. I try not to take too many names, but then on the other hand people on the lists don't always wait, so there could be openings. Still very few inquiries for male pups, I don't know what exactly breeders are supposed to do with boy puppies when people are now willing to get on waiting list for NEXT SUMMER.. just to get a girl. I won't take names that far in advance, but it just seems so silly to me when the male dogs make better pets, are more loyal and loving and if "fixed" never start the leg lifting/humping behavior. In the past 6 months I would say 99% of the inquiries we get are for female pups, it is really bizarre. If I didn't breed, I would only have males, as they are my snuggle bunnies, always at my feet, just so loyal.
If the person who called me on Friday about puppies is reading this blog, you are welcome to call back, but you left 2 messages on my phone talking SO FAST that none of us can understand the phone numbers you left nor your name apparently. Possibly "Jackie" but the best any of us can try to make out the phone numbers you left, both are not in service.. so.. call back, take a deep breath and speak slowly and clearly and I will be happy to return your call. Thanks!
Thank you all for your continued good thoughts and prayers. Thank you to Dave and Denise for keeping Decker for me during this stressfull time, he is our one dog that needs so much one on one attention, it is good to be able to know his needs are being met without me having to worry about it right now. My daughter is going back home and taking Destiny with her today, so that will help with about half of the stress. We were able to get admission in writing of who is behind the vandalism, the police will still not do anything, but at least it is conformation that it is part of an on going stalking problem and I know exactly who and what I am dealing with. The insurance company is being generous with me, so if I can put an end to the vandalism (not likely) I can move forward to get another vehicle. Friends and neighbors have been kind in giving my son rides to work and school, so we are hanging in there. If I could just ask please please any prayers be sent that this person who does the stalking find some mental peace in his life and move on away from the violent focus on my son and his girlfriend.
I was planning to show Mysty in UKC shows today, but decided this morning that it would simply be too risky to drive so far with broken car windows and flapping plastic. Unfortunately that ends the chance of her UKC Championship this year, as the next UKC shows in this area are not until May (unless I get a new car and want to drive a long ways to one!!) heheheh who knows, I just might.
So I am open for ideas about a good vehicle for the dog shows, I do not want anything TOO big, as I only take one to three dogs with me at a time, and still want something with some good gas mileage. I also will have to drive it everyday to work, so do not know if I want to drive a van every day. I currently have a Ford Taurus station wagon that has served me well, allowing 3 people, 3 dog crates and all the equipment for a weekend to fit in easily. I do need enough room that 2 crates can be in the car all the time without back seats laid down, as I leave 2 crates for dogs going to classes, vets, etc.
Anyone want to see how leggy Devon has become in his "teenage" look?? They sure do grow up fast!

I am posting 2 video clips for Kaydee to look at below. They are just Devon walking around in a circle so she can see his movement, nothing too exciting. I am just having a hard time getting the files to her, so this might help, especially if she has a magnifying glass...
The video file has been deleted from user's Mediablog.

So far so good with Daisy, thank goodness. She seems to be just fine, acting normal eating well, nothing seems to have been injured in our collision with one another! In fact she ate my finger along with her treat this morning, so I guess she is moving from the "picking at the food" stage to the "eat everything that isn't nailed down" stage!
Decker has been visiting with Dave and Denise since Sunday, guess he is coming home tonight. Sounds like he has been having a ball on the new feather bed with the other dogs. Perhaps Dave and Denise need to get a second bed so they can have something to sleep on when the dogs push them out of thiers!!
My gosh, I have to get up some of the new pictures of the dogs that have been coming in from various families!! hahahahah My favorite is of a sheltie who isn't "ours" but in the same family. Oh goodness is she cute!
I have been trying to get video of Devon for a young lady who is interested in him.. HA.!!! trying to use the timer mechanism for the web cam, that was a joke.. I would set it, run outside, do my thing moving him in a circle, then go back inside and see that it ended before I got out there to begin! or it just caught and end of my performance!! nothing good anyway. Have to try again tonight.
Last night I was going outside in the dark with the dogs and some of them got under my feet and kinda tripped me. I didn't fall, but I hit into the side of one of the dogs pretty hard. If it had been any of the other 7 dogs out there it wouldn't have been hard enough to make a big deal about, but no.. it had to be Daisy right there at the wrong place and the wrong time. I checked her all over and she seemed fine, but she threw up her dinner last night, so now I get to worry for 20 days if the babies are allright or if the banging of my leg on her side tore one or more loose, if a baby dies now it could kill the whole litter... why oh why did it have to be HER under my feet??? it just wasn't enough of a bump to affect any of the others, only it had to be I semi fell into her pregnant side.. even if it had been her shoulder area, it wouldn't have hurt anything.. but noooo... sigh..
Decker went with Dave and Denise for a sleep over and holiday weekend! Hope they are all having fun! I started to train Destiny a little bit here, she is fearless, fast and fun.. if my daughter does move back in with her on a perminate basis, Destiny is going to learn some agility, she is perfect for it!!
Daisy is definately pregnant, picked her up today and she is round and feels like a pot bellied pig! Dew-oh had gone into heat about 3 weeks ago and I had to decide about her breeding before I knew if Daisy was Preg. I figured if I bred Dew-oh, then Daisy would be preg too, if I skipped Dew-oh then Daisy wouldn't be, you know the old feast or famine senerio! Well I skipped Dew-oh, so I am glad to see that this time life didn't throw me a curve and we have just the one litter on the way! See this is one of the few years that we will have 2 litters in a year, and I almost feel, wow.. we just got done with a litter, how can it be time for another! But this is only 2 in a year! I can't imagine how people can have 4 litters a month or something! Well I suppose if you didn't work, and had hired help and a kennel building... naaaa I still couldn't do it!!
I bet we are going to have quite a few pups, as she is not due till the end of the month. Often you can not tell they are pregnant till the last week or two, she seems awfully large for 23 plus days to go.
Life has certainly gotten in the way of my doggie and computer fun this week!! I don't usually talk about anything other than dogs on this blog, but wow. Last Saturday night I was in bed and heard HUGE crashes out front, I thought it was a car accident that one ran off the road and was hitting trees as it went, threw on my shoes and a flashlight and found that someone had smashed the heck out of MY car with huge rocks and bricks!!! That wasn't nice, I haven't done anything to anyone.. sigh.. Police can't do anything, say I needed to get it on tape. Next night, my son was home and I hear the same type sound.. heart drops, yes his car rear hatch is also smashed, they tried for his windshield and now taken a baseball bat to my car!! Ok.. so this is a problem, I spend lots of money and days of work having alot of dusk to dawn flood lights installed as well as a night vision camera system. So far so good, but I have monitors and tapes running all the time, not sleeping well, my place rather looks like a lite up football stateum!! My car is most likely a total loss, will know for sure this week. My son's car had been running rough, and in addition to the vandalism, it's engine blew up yesterday. Of course he starts back to college on Tuesday, and there is no way to get to the campus without driving, Tues is the same day the insurance company will most likely want me to give up my car, and that leaves us.. well.. car shopping I guess?
Wait.. there is more!! My daughter and her fience of 3 years decide it is perhaps best to split up for a while, she moves back in, dragging along a houseful of "stuff" and of course they own Destiny, so another dog has arrived to live in the fray! Temporary? Permanate? who knows..
They moved my aunt to a nursing home that is a little bit closer, about 20 mins away, that will help some I suppose.
I had thought of placing Decker in a new home if the right family ever came along, and a WONDERFUL family came to look at him this past weekend.. Decker was just AWFUL.. barked right in their faces for over an hour, non-stop. I have never seen him act like that at all.. ever ever.. so I guess that is not a good match for either of them.
Devon continues to grow, he is right at the top of the growth charts, he will mature at 15 3/4 to 16" if he continues as he has been going. I am not sure I want to fuss with showing a dog so close to the top of the chart, so have been keeping my eyes open for a good home for him too. I had a nice lady send me all about her family, her referances, he was just what she wanted.. but then she didn't show up to see him!! What's up with that?? Then I was contacted by a lovely young lady who wants a male for show and agility, she is everthing I would want in a home for him, but she is in Florida. I won't ship, and they can meet in Georgia, but since I am in PA with a totalled car and I hate to drive anyway... doesn't sound like that will be a possible!!
So I am sad, I am crowded, I frustrated.. hahah and Hurricane Ernesto effects are dumping torential downpours on us today. I can't possibly drive to the shows I wanted to go to Tommarow, they are 3 hours away in the rain, and I have very few windows in my car left!! When it gets to this point there is nothing much to do except sit back, make some coffee cuddle some dogs and be happy we are all alive and well.... and hope that next weeks bring something better!!
