Ohhh I went ahead and did it! I gave my dogs their shots all by myself! Most breeders I know give their own vacines, except for Rabies, which the vet has to give. I had always had my vet do it, but this year, I decided to try it myself. They were a little "tougher" than I expected when I went to give the shot, and for the first two, I had trouble getting the needle tight enough. Stabbed my finger real good once, good thing I bought an extra just incase! I saved myself $375 over going to the vet, and did a good job of it, so I am pround I tried something new and was successful at it.
Another of the puppies we have sold has completed the first step on the ladder of acheivement in the performance show world.
We are proud of Vista Dei Luv Me True CGC "Sampson" and his teenage owner, Mary for achieving the Canine Good Citizen Award. We hear that Sampson is enjoying agility, and look forward to seeing him and Mary at the agility matches and shows. Congradulations guys, you got your own page on our website, it will be updated as you all progress!
Wooo hoooo.. Decker took reserve winners dog today at the Charolette Shows. His sweetie of a handler actually handed off her mom's dog to someone else when he and Decker had to compete against each other for the points, and she stay on Decker, which would have been a hard choice to make. Luckily her mom's dog still took the points, would have been ashame for him to have lost the points because she stayed with Decker, and I really appriciate she would do that. Let's hope this is the begining of a sucessful roll!
It is tooooooo hot! I feel so bad for the dogs wearing such heavy fur coats! I have big fans running for them, air conditioning is a mixed blessing. We have an older air conditioner back in their bedroom, but you hate to leave the room shut up, what if it stops running? Also, if they leave the one air conditioned room the rest is then unbarable as they are not acclimented to the heat in the rest of the house and outdoors. So we work with fans etc to keep them comfy and don't just rely on the air conditioner. Decker didn't do well at the shows, first time out with his handler. It was a large sheltie entry, 33 dogs I think, he got one 4th place ribbon.. sniff sniff. but I guess he worked well and showed his little heart out which is more than he will do for me, so that is a start anyway!
Decker has gone to his first shows with his new handler. He will show on Friday and Saturday, and I won't get to know how he did until Saturday night when they come home. I have all my fingers crossed he does well (makes it hard to type!). Shedding time has come to our house, dogs are looking hair in great gobs. I hate grooming in this sticky heat, the loose hairs stick to me.. blah. they will feel better when it comes out tho. Getting them a new airconditioner for the room they spend the day in. No shows for me until June 24, so big long break here. I am going to take this time that Decker is away to work on the fence. He is relly bad on the fence, all the other dogs see it as the end of their territory, he sees it as a challange. He jumps at it, body slams it, and just make a general mess of it. I need to pull out a couple posts and re-set them, fix some pickets, and re-staing the thing.
